Mark Wahlberg stars in director Tim Burton's updated reimagining of Planet of the Apes. The series of the five original Apes films were released between 1968 and 1973. Long a James Cameron project, the remake finally launched as Fox's summer tentpole film for 2001 with director Tim Burton at the helm. Wahlberg plays an astronaut who crash lands on a planet where human beings are enslaved by highly-evolved apes. Helen Bonham Carter, Tim Roth, and Michael Clarke Duncan are among the stars under ape make-up.
