Based on the autobiography of Beverly D'Onofrio, Riding in Cars with Boys chronicles a mother-son relationship beginning in 1968 when she became a mother at 15 years old. A failed marriage and a bleak existence did not deter D'Onofrio from dreaming of becoming a writer. Drew Barrymore stars as the teenage mother with Steve Zahn as her husband, and Adam Garcia as her son. Lorraine Bracco and James Woods are her parents. The film is directed by Penny Marshall.
