Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga [MMAX5] leads the 3-day weekend with an estimated $25.55 million, over $24.78 million from The Garfield Movie [GRFLD], which is likely to win the 4-day weekend with an estimated $31.88 million. Both films scored a B+ on CinemaScore.
The official trailer for the biopic of the 40th U.S. President Ronald Reagan [REAGN] is online. Dennis Quaid [DQUAI] stars as the former actor who was elected the Governor of California and became the President of the United States. Showbiz Direct will release Reagan in theaters nationwide on August 30th.
Warner Bros. has released the full-length trailer for the fantasy sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice [BEET2]. Director Tim Burton [TBURT] reunites Michael Keaton [MKEAT], Winona Ryder [WRYDE] and Catherine O’Hara [COHAR], while Jenna Ortega [JORTE] joins the cast. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice appears in theaters on September 6th.
Sony has dropped the second trailer for the family film Harold and the Purple Crayon [HATPC] based on the children's book by Crockett Johnson. Zachary Levi [ZLEVI] stars as the title character from a book who crosses over into the real world with his magical crayon. Directed by Carlos Saldanha, Harold and the Purple Crayon opens in theaters on August 2nd.
Neon has finally released the official trailer for the horror film Longlegs [LNLEG]. Maika Monroe [MMONR] stars as an FBI agent tracking a serial killer, played by Nicolas Cage [NCAGE]. She uncovers an occult and clues she must solve before he claims another victim. Directed by Osgood Perkins, Longlegs arrives in theaters on July 12th.
A wholly original film topped the weekend box office as the live-action/CG hybrid film IF [IMGNF] banked an estimated $35.0 million. The Ryan Reynolds starrer received an A CinemaScore from an audience that was 50% families.
Lionsgate has uploaded the final trailer for the drama White Bird [WHBRD], a spinoff of 2017's Wonder. Helen Mirren leads the film directed by Marc Forster [MFORS]. First scheduled to open in September 2022, White Bird will finally arrive in theaters on October 4th.
Roadside Attractions has unveiled the official trailer for the family film My Penguin Friend [TPATF] based on a true story. Jean Reno [JRENO] stars as a Brazilian fisherman who saves a penguin, which then returns to visit him every year. My Penguin Friend opens in theaters on August 16th.
Warner Bros. has released the second trailer for the western Horizon: An American Saga, written and directed by Kevin Costner [KCOST] who also leads an all-star cast. Chapter 1 [HORZN] opens on June 28th, followed by Chapter 2 [HORZ2] on August 16th.
Sony has dropped the second and final trailer for the action comedy sequel Bad Boys: Ride or Die [BADB4] starring Will Smith [WSMIT] and Martin Lawrence [MLAWR]. The fourth film in the franchise finds the two detectives on the run after being framed by a crooked cop inside the Miami police department. Directed by Adil & Bilall, Bad Boys: Ride or Die hits theaters on June 7th.
