if there are new shares created, underlying fund manager takes that cash and invests it in securities that are allowed for that particular ETF.
theoretically, there is a finite amount of stock for each and every actual company/corporation, however options/derivatives create synthetic additional float.
in real life, if you sell someone has to buy it (other investor, market makers, etc.)
in HSX shares are bought and sold to an algorithm.
