When I started playing...
HSX was MUCH different. In those days you could not short any security. You could only buy 10,000 shares of a Moviestock. Openers were halted on Saturday morning, and if you didn't think the movie would do well, you had to sell it off before HSX halted the stock on Saturday morning, no shorting back then. It took a trader much longer to build a port. Now you can own 100,000 shares, you can short or buy a stock (bond, etc). There were no derivatives in those days.
It took me about 9-10 years to get to $1B... but I didn't play every day, and traded stocks now and then. I usually would always play openers though each week.
So it's hard to say how long it may take someone today with all the new ways to play, trade, etc. I DO know that a few years ago, Grory took a $2M port and got it to over $1B in a year..just to show players that it could be done...she is ranked #1 Lifetime.
You can do it, it just depends how much time you have, how often you play, trade, your trading style, etc...
