To the worriers: Patience...I remember when I lost 10-15% of my port's value, when HSX had a "black Friday" day several years ago...

I think my $200M port lost $20-$25 MILLION that day...some stocks were down 20-30 points, others were down 5-10...for no reason. I think it just started and snowballed from there, and everyone jumped on, dumping stocks to avoid losses, etc. People would log in, find out they were down $15M, and panic..selling off here, there, etc., to avoid even bigger losses...and snowballed from there.

The following few days stocks rebounded back up, gaining a lot of what they'd lost, but NOT everything. Those that sold off lost much, and then had to buy back at higher prices than what they sold at.

If you just hung on, and rode it out, in the end you came out OK, but I must admit, I sold off a lot of stocks to avoid bigger losses, and then only had to turn around and buy back stocks I'd sold.

Unless "news" or something else actually affects a stock, it's best, IMO to just ride out the waves. Things eventually settle...unless you're daytrading to take advantage of those swings, I guess.
