That's right. Start with RazorHawk's league - he's made a lot of money on HSX and put a lot of work into helping new players, so I assume

his league is good.  It certainly has a lot of members.

The other thing you can do with leagues is - if you have a group of friends playing the game and want a little friendly competition and in-game discussion without going on the boards, leagues let you do that.
