Crikey but you want the sun the moon AND the stars. But let me see if I can get you an answer of what I would do...
1. It depends, if I was playing daily I might have a notion that the ebb and flow would go in a certain direction. I rarely flip stocks on my intuition BUT I have been known to intuitively know what was gonna happen and I have kicked myself more for not making a move than congratulating myself on a slick move.
2. If I saw it move AT reset, I would flip. Particularly if I had a small port. The odds are that it will move enough to cover the 2% commission. If it doesn't, well it falls into the lesser percentage. Now, I believe that if this is a stock that has plenty of stockholders, then I believe the odds are in my favor that others will see what happens...go WTF and if not flip, they will dump their short believing that they do not know why the stock is acting crazy and they just want to take their profit and run.
3. I would never just cover. Particularly on a stock under $75. I would go long then monitor the movement. The minute there appeared to be a lull in the movement in whatever direction it was headed in...I would then flip the stock particularly if I made 2% + profit on it. If it continued to move up, so what, I am covered for that and still realize a profit. Maybe not as high as it could go...but so what, I am in it for profit...any profit on a stock like this that has a termination so soon.
4. Already answered...commission does not ALWAYS kill your profits. Sometimes it does. But not more than it doesn't. You have to be a daily player for this to work. When you are playing the players, you have to play the morning players, the lunch players, the dinner players and the I am going to bed but I wanna make a few moves players. Now...with the lessening of activity and the market not being driven as much as in the past, the profits are smaller in some cases. You really should evaluate reset movers in terms of how many traders hold that stock? Will they see the movement and react? Once you determine that and continue to play this way, you will note patterns and see more clearly when stocks crest and when the fall...it is a seesawing motion that lessens as it goes on unless outside impetus is given.
There ya go. That should answer all yer everliving loving questions! One of these days maybe after the holidays I will go full tilt at it again and be able to give you more up to date info which takes into consideration where HSX is at now. But over the last 3 years, thought processes like the ones above are what got me where I am. =P
