HSX has increased stock limits over the years... not sure 'exactly' why.. perhaps more players, or other reasons... but
When I started, we could only buy 10K shares (no shorting then either!!)... then it went to 20K shares, then 50K, and now 100K shares per stock... as more players become Billionaires, and have lots of cash laying around, we're hoping at some point they'll raise it to 150K shares, or even 200K shares (NICE!).
I don't know if it depends on how many players are active and can give valid data for them to sell, or if there are other reasons... but I know that *I* would vote for 200K shares if they offered it!!
