There's been one* increase since I started playing in 1998. So it's a rare event and I wouldn't hold my breath for it to happen again.
*Technically it's two - the bump from 50k to 75k and then a further bump from 75k to 100k, but both bumps were part of the same overhaul to the system and took place within two months of each other.
Part of the reason behind the change was that too many (according to HSX) players were focussing on Starbonds, and not Moviestocks where HSX earns its money. So to increase investment in moviestocks, they upped the investment limits to make them more attractive to traders.
What occurred at the time? A lot of moviestocks went up in price, and a lot of other moviestocks went down, as people doubled up on their investments. And that rising tide caused more of the same. The week we jumped from 75k to 100k was easily my most profitable week ever.

HSX has increased stock limits over the years... not sure 'exactly' why.. perhaps more players, or other reasons... but Feb 09, 10:06
