May outlook for FOXX

Well, April blew chunks.  FOXX went up from $28.50 to $30.30, and fell further behind WEINX and DISNX. LNGRD proved to be a disappointing adjust, and day-trading opportunities for eligible films proved to be few. As an example, today among the top 20 movers there is one Fox film. Boo! I'm looking forward to the day when Fox announces release dates for twenty movies. I think I made more money from Learn & Earn than anything.

Anyway, FOXX is now fully invested in Fox's suite of terrible summer movies. First up is POLTR, which comes out on Memorial Day. It's an unusual time for a horror release, but it has been rising in price steadily and could probably go a little higher.

After that is SCOPR, which has also been rising as traders invest in summer movies. I'll stick with this one - if MMCCA can draw $80 million of business with TAMMY, imagine how we'll she'll do with a movie men aren't embarrassed to see!

Finally there's FANT4. Mixed feelings here - there's a general feeling that it will be one of the summer's bombs, and today's news about Trank won't help. It's also a big investment - 40% of the portfolio, that could maybe be used more profitably so I'd like to get out. But with Avengers stupid money and the expectation of a strong summer, maybe it's not the right time to sell yet.

As an afterthought, FFMTC opens in 10 theatres today. I'll have to keep an eye out on the per theatre average and whether it looks like expanding, For now I am staying short.  MEADG is coming out in June, so I suppose I'd better get a handle on that too.

Coming up there are a couple of IPOs I'll play if I remember - KTSS2 and FANT4. They'll have the usual pattern of sequel IPOs, I expect. Some other recent IPOs would have been quite profitable shorts if I'd bothered to invest in them, so I should watch those more closey going forward.

So, the plan for May is to keep plugging away at the cold cash, and day-trading if any eligible movies actually have worthwhile moves, with more of an eye on the IPOs. If I can get it up to $35, I'll be thrilled.
