When Buying long or Shorting SB's , is there a formula for the best time to Sell or Cover?

I buy and/or short a lot of Starbonds but am not really knowledgeable as far as when I should sell them or cover them to make the most of my investments. Please help or tell me where I can learn more. Thanks
