Neal McDonough says that he hopes to start filming Captain America 2 before the end of the year

Spoilers for those who haven't seen the first one:

How is his character even going to be in the movie given what happened at the end of the film? And why did they have to eliminate the possibility of more WW2/60's era Captain America films by doing what they did with the ending? The time period set the film apart from the other Marvel Universe films.
