Like any project, ROAGE had its share of problems to solve.
... and it seems it didn't. Pastiche musicals which do not compose original songs for characters is tricky; using prominent actors who are not always singers is a big risk; doing mash-ups with song fragments is a further, separate risk. What also hasn't been aired out here is that the song rep of this show, while not being universally embraced (ahem), requires virtuosic singing which isn't always recognized as such, and so you have elite singers doing rep which has an everyman audience and affect. When you play with any of these variables, the song rep can crash, and you're left with karaoke.
