Good for Harkins
Film Rental in the USA continues to rise and is a problem for exhibition going forward. As an independent I cannot affect a studio's approach, however a major circuit can. The problem is Harkins is too small. They may win the battle but the war will not be won, until AMC, CInemark, and Regal stop saying yes to higher terms.
Studios hae increased terms since the VPF deal started. VPF is vitual print fee and is a fee paid to cinemas to help the expensive install of digital which benefits the studios not the exhibitors.
Anyway good for Harkins.
