Sorry "The Master" did not speak to you: I thought it was either the best or one of the best films of 2012.
A great score, a great look and pace, and two extraordinary performances (especially the voice and body work of Phoenix, but also Hoffman). The great set-piece built around Ella Fitzgerald singing Irving Berlin's "Get thee behind me, Satan." The very exciting two-cell jail scene; their great first interview. It's a really unsettling story about teaching, I think.
