Since i am not a formula one fan and didn't grow up in Europe, I hadn't either til I researched it. It' a great story, inspirational....
and it is famous in Europe among F! fans. Just because Americans don't know F1 or the story of doesn't mean that they won't like it. How many Americans had heard of John Nash before (an american), 'A Beautiful Mind?' was released? Very Few. Yet, his story and theory the most famous in mathematics. His biopic made 170 million.
Hunt/Lauda story is no different. Insprational stroy of rivalry and overcoming odds with a Ron Howard ending. Americans love that kind of film and they will see this film in droves. Last I researched, Americans love fast cars just like Europeans and Ferrari. In 2012 the U.S. Grand Prix was hosted in Austin Texas. attended. In Texas, people don't follow F1, most dont know the cars, the drivers or the history with out the help of google and despite that, 117, 429 people attended the U.S. Grand Prix in Austin last year.
