One of the best (and weirdest) points about ININC's performance so far was its -5% decline last Sunday, a signal...

... that it is not behaving like most of the movies we track.  If I could sneak one data point out of its future, I'd like to know its Sat-Sun decline next weekend, or maybe its Fri-Sat bump, which was also outside the norm.

ININC doesn't seem to be holding up too well during the week this week. Monday's drop from Sunday was 81.8% while most others were between Paul2k Sep 11, 12:42

I did a delist scenario on it this morning with modest weekday holds and 25% weekend drops. lobogotti Sep 11, 12:47

I just realized that I typed "spread its legs" about the movie's future. That was TOTALLY an accident, I swear! {nm} Paul2k Sep 11, 12:49

I am going STV for that. {nm} Paul2k Sep 11, 12:50

You've been Weinsteined! {nm} DTravel Sep 11, 13:17

is there any evidence so far its reached a mainstream (non hispanic) audience? {nm} Moviesnob Sep 11, 13:00

eallensbp apparently has some evidence hidden somewhere. ;) {nm} Paul2k Sep 11, 13:15

I think the interesting question from a distribution standpoint is how wide do you need to go to fully exploit the Hispanic audience Moviesnob Sep 11, 13:22

and interesting that this is really a first of it's kind. {nm} lobogotti Sep 11, 13:45

i wouldn't call it first, just most successful {nm} Moviesnob Sep 11, 14:00

meaning the success of this magnitude for the market is the first of it's kind. but I don;t have anything else to compare it too really. {nm} lobogotti Sep 11, 14:16

Derbez offers some comparison films: Life Is Beautiful, Amelie, Little Miss Sunshine... Antibody Sep 11, 17:30

but is there a Hispanic film that has ever broke out? {nm} lobogotti Sep 11, 18:43

Pan's Labyrinth is the biggest I can think of, but that's a completely different audience. I think the EW comparisons are better. {nm} RogerMore Sep 11, 19:09

Like Water for Chocolate back in 1993 made 21 mil total. That's the best I could find {nm} JDolphin Sep 11, 21:12

Three other art-house Spanish-language films (Amores Perros, Y tu mama tambien, and 21 Grams) had "art-house breakouts." second gary Sep 11, 21:28

Life and Amelie didn't break out until they go Oscars {nm} JDolphin Sep 11, 21:03

Wonder how wide Pantelion will open their next release PULST. {nm} Antibody Sep 11, 13:56

Thanks again for the shoutout, Paul2k. Even though there's a bit of a decline, ININC really doesn't have to do much to get that $40M by wk4. {nm} eallensbp Sep 11, 20:47

Depends on whether it gets more theaters. If not, that could be a tough sell {nm} JDolphin Sep 11, 21:23

OW was 7.8 Mil in 348 theaters, past weekend 8.1 Mil in 717 theaters, BO ~ equal in twice as many theaters week 2. forlorne Sep 11, 13:41
