What's happening with HTYD2?

How can a sequel to one of the most beloved movies of all time despite glowing reviews once again, no direct competition and a summer release is performing this poorly? Looks like 2nd weekend will be down atleast -46% if not more and at this point it looks like it will probably top out at $175 mil max domestically. Can anyone explain as to what went wrong?
