But coming home from your umpteenth racist beating and quickly going to your room unseen is.
Having a drawer filled with broken spectacles - all the product of 'plausible accidents' is.
And crying yourself to sleep night after night after night desperate to make a hostile world disappear is.
I think I know something about racism - what it is, what it looks like, what it sounds like, and just how ugly it is in all its forms.
So, with all due respect to those who think otherwise, I'm with Constance and her courage to speak out. It may not be the vilest form of racism I'll see today, but she categorically has a point - blatantly obvious to myself - not so much to some. To call this a shame would be to undervalue the power of the word itself.Â
