I live in a very affluent suburb, Fishers/Geist area of Indiana. It's all things Disney out here.
Disney is where every family aspires to take their families, once or (if lucky enough) twice a year. The stay-at-home mothers go see all the Disney remakes and cartoons.
However, I wonder how and if they embrace this casting choice? Going to be interesting to see.
They welcomed Aladdin with open arms, but the cast stayed true to the original. I wonder how changing an actual Disney princess from Caucasian to African American will affect their likeliness to go? Truly.
Once this info starts to get posted online, through my wifes circles, I'll be able to get a read on just how accepting affluent America is. I truly hope for the future those same people that have been pumping dollars into the Disney franchise films don't stray from this... because what kind of bull**** message does that send to your children.
