Just because the theater owners decide to offer free movies is not enough to make it happen. Film producers and distributors get their money from ticket sales. I suspect that unless they agree to forgo their cut of the ticket sales it won't happen. If they do agree, then I think it will be movies they select and allow theaters to show for free - look for some movies that started to show in theaters before the shut-down. Those, I think, would be the ones that might be allowed to show for free. The theaters will still make money because concession sales are 80% to 90% pure profit for them.
