Almost weekly Inflation in ticket prices boosting later releases this summer
SPID8 1st week avg tix price was ~$12-12.2 iirc. The Batman $12.88 (Dr Strange was also ~$12.8 don't recall exact nos maybe others could fill in), TopGun2 $12.96, JW3 is ~$13.21. Energy prices are through the roof & cinemas have running costs too lke everyone else (though partly its the dynamic pricing introduced around The Batman time). But usually ticket prices never see such escalation DURING a summer, its usually inflation from one year to the next (that too was steep this century mainly in early-mid 00s & then early 2010s when 3D movies were introduced). By the time THOR4 hits, tix prices are likely to near ~$13.5-14.
What this does to our Summer contest is introduce a new variable where what we thought the BO for movies was going to be @ the start of May is going to get more & more inflated (while whether it changes any movie ranks is yet to be seen) for later releases to the point where THOR4 is likely to get a ~8-10% advantage on Dr Strange (& lesser on subsequent releases) & so on.
Just found this to be an interesting & worth noting/pointing out dynamic at play.
