the thing about Star Wars is NOBODY WAS TRYING TO MAKE A FRANCHISE when they made Star Wars

yes George generated enough material when he wrote the first drafts to eventually make it a trilogy (and more). but that story is 100% self-contained and everyone at Fox and Lucasfilm were just trying not to lose their shirts on it

also, the WHOLE LESSON OF THE MOVIE is "turn off your targeting computer, trust your feelings, and Use The Force" which is 180 degrees the opposite of how every dumb Harvard MBA mother****er at a studio has responded to the success of Star Wars since 1977
