The overall actress playing her wasn't terrible, but in way over her head. Her conversations with Keaton's Batman made him almost appear abusive and un-caring (point one), dismissing her in fear of (and I'm quoting here).. "That she would be seen as no better than Batman's own servitude.." His part is also broken up in parts, like 3 minutes each, making up about 15 mintues of screen time.
Gordon is still her father, but not in Commionshier role (Fans weren't thrilled with that one) and only try to engage each other over talking over the loss of her Mother. Fans felt Gordon's character is being tossed and changed to make it seem his role as her father was un-needed. The theme of the film is Batgirl needs female guidance and can't seem to find any. Batman is a jerk. Gordorn is absent. and her Bar friend is the only one who seems to make any great points about morality...
Firefly has his health insurace cancelled.. as his motivation to burn things off huge medical debt with a sick wife. Which is nowhere near what the comic character was like.. accoring to fans.
Batman eventually warms up to her, and accepts he can't mentor that her well (Fans really hated that) but did offer a promise of trying to get better at it. The film's conclusion is her defeating all the male foes, promoting all the female characters, and leaving behind the old Batman "code" or something.. Fans didn't understand what that was about. Some noted to me that film is basically saying no more male mentors in DC films with female ones.. which is just terrible and makes the film "really" uncomfortable to watch.
The extra cut scene shows Black Canary. Fans actually liked that cut scene (setting up a future Black Canary film) better than the entire Batgirl movie.
That sums it up. I was pretty surprised at their reactions..
