So much of the plot driven dialog just stops Don't Worry Darling dead in its tracks. It just doesn't work.

It takes you right out of the movie immediately.

It's not Chris Pine's fault; it's that script. When you have this guy say a bunch of stupid, meaningless drivel, with nothing behind it to truly engage the audience, and this is supposed to be the whole reason everyone is a part of the story, and there's nothing there to ponder or understand. It just kills the movie.

All the dialogue requires to keep the "secret" of the story from the audience and the characters. And then it eventually gets revealed, but who cares by that point?

It's just too wisp thin of a story; there's very little there. Everyone tries. But no.

Pugh is really good. Everyone else is basically serviceable. the movie just becomes a tedious drag. It sure does look good though.

It doesn't work.

WOM is pretty mixed. I don't see much in this film developing legs. {nm} VictorY Sep 24, 17:10

thanks for the insights {nm} tealfan Sep 24, 18:22

what WAS the secret,...I must have missed it! {nm} GLAMMGUY Sep 24, 18:23

There's a big reveal (MAJOR SPOILERS) TheWeekendWarrior Sep 25, 08:54

Harry Slyles acting was a huge problem. DWD could have used a much more seasoned actor for such a piviol role. {nm} Movie Cub Sep 25, 07:47

Many actors have better acting skill than Harry Slyles, but very few of them have bigger box office draw than him {nm} Peterlee Sep 25, 08:58

That's premature. DWDRL may top out around $45 million. {nm} Antibody Sep 25, 09:11

Anyone with more box office draw would have cost $12-20 million vs $3 or less for him (total budget was $35 million), not worth it. notfabio Sep 25, 09:30

It {nm} Kevman66 Sep 25, 23:44

It was a weird movie... $45 is probably the upper limit of it with anyone in it. And, might squeak out a profit too (narrowly) {nm} Kevman66 Sep 25, 23:45

I thought he was fine, but that's it. It points out yet again how little artistry is needed to be a competent actor in Hollywood. goodvibe61 Sep 25, 09:17

The majority of the role just retired him to look good in a suit, which, check, but (spoilers inside) Kevman66 Sep 25, 23:15

He's better in My Policeman but that's Amazon so won't be able to compare box office. {nm} TheWeekendWarrior Sep 25, 10:23

I can think of 20 off the top of my head {nm} Moviesnob Sep 25, 11:54

Yup... totes. {nm} TheWeekendWarrior Sep 25, 08:53
