Hmm. So: this TV movie Knives Out Take the Money and Run will play for a week in some AMC's. Not much of a TV movie guy.

I enjoyed Knives Out for what it was. it was fine. They ended up selling the movie going fans down the river once they took that truckload of dough.

So now the next emotional response to deal with I guess is:

Knowing it's a TV movie for, I don't know, a couple years now?, who really cares? About seeing it in a theater. Kind of funny in a way, the streamers thumbing their noses at theatrical; "here's a little bone for you, this product, made to fill space on our streaming platform, it's in some theaters for a week".

It's a TV movie for crying out loud. Who is going to be motivated for that. I'd venture to say that, ever since it became known that this would just be another in the endless quantity of product that Trix will dump into its box, there IS NO building enthusiasm for the movie. it will just be another in the endless product that one day shows up in a queue. Who cares.

I think Trix is going to have do a far, FAR better job of something like this going forward. Because this time around it's an epic fail.

the overwhelming majority of people who now prefer watching in bed, reducing it to disposable "stuff" far outweighs the lovers of going to the theaters, and all those second rate couch potato fans aren't going to drag themselves out of their underwear to go to the theater and pay money to see it. While the movie going devotees know that this particular ship sailed long, long ago. For fresher, GREENER pastures! Good bye!

This Halloween movie is another example of screwing the pooch. Once you say "day and date", for all intent and purpose. it's over. You've removed the specialness of the theatrical experience, telling theater lovers, "this is more grist for the streaming mill, but we'll throw it in theaters for a week or whatever".

Do us all a favor; either fix it, by partnering with all of exhibition, and acknowledge that people want to go to movies and see great movies, or just go ahead and release to the "and chill" crowd and be done with it.

Lazy. Second rate. It seems that's all any of this stuff was ever worth.

It makes me feel not only that works of art like Seven Samurai, Third Man, Casablanca, Snow White, that all of these were far less achievements all this time than any of us considered. And

this age of watching 2 hour films that were considered a high level of art and expression,  is over.

Out of curiosity, where did you first see Seven Samurai, Third Man, Casablanca, and Snow White? In a theater or at home? {nm} RupertPupkin Oct 08, 14:28

That's partly my point, though. A lot of people experience "classic" movies for the first time at home. {nm} RupertPupkin Oct 08, 14:49

The history of this board goes back 25+ years. This isn't even close to strange. {nm} JHFHockey Oct 08, 19:31

You're right; I am. {nm} goodvibe61 Oct 09, 10:51

I have been lucky enough to see a lot of classic films in a theater since I studied film history in school. Thank goodness for letterbox Catzan Oct 08, 22:42

Films need to be exploited in three windows in maximize their value. There's no debating that Moviesnob Oct 08, 23:01
