Just about every great film since I could drive, living in SoCal? In a Theater. It's L.A. man, there were LOTS of theaters...

Whether it was my home base (The Cinedome; Orange, CA from about 1970 or so until they closed at the turn of the century), or any of HUNDREDS of theaters littered across the southland. Saw it in a theater.

Weekends were reserved for going into town, and experiencing the great theaters of Los Angeles for decades, whether it was Westwood, where all the premieres were held in the old days, some of the greatest single screen theaters in the world, to Hollywood, with the Dome and then so many other theaters. For awhile i saw a crap load of movies at the Universal City Walk AMC, because that's where so many movies opened limited. And then you had he indies; so may of them, so many great places to see movies.

My original home base, before the Cinedome, was FOX Cinemaland, 1968 or so, for a couple years until the Dome. That's where I saw True Grit 5 or 6 weekends in a row, my love of movies was really blooming at that point. I saw Bonnie and Clyde in there at the age of 8, before the Cinedome existed.

Hmm. So: this TV movie Knives Out Take the Money and Run will play for a week in some AMC's. Not much of a TV movie guy. goodvibe61 Oct 08, 12:57

Out of curiosity, where did you first see Seven Samurai, Third Man, Casablanca, and Snow White? In a theater or at home? {nm} RupertPupkin Oct 08, 14:28

How old do you think he is? :) {nm} TheWeekendWarrior Oct 08, 14:42

That's partly my point, though. A lot of people experience "classic" movies for the first time at home. {nm} RupertPupkin Oct 08, 14:49

Plus he's a lot of fun at parties {nm} Moviesnob Oct 08, 15:32

This is turning into one of the strangest threads in Movies board history... {nm} TheWeekendWarrior Oct 08, 16:17

DUNE was a TV movie. I wish I could've seen it in a theater. {nm} Rishoutfield Oct 08, 17:56

The history of this board goes back 25+ years. This isn't even close to strange. {nm} JHFHockey Oct 08, 19:31

You're right; I am. {nm} goodvibe61 Oct 09, 10:51

I have been lucky enough to see a lot of classic films in a theater since I studied film history in school. Thank goodness for letterbox Catzan Oct 08, 22:42

Films need to be exploited in three windows in maximize their value. There's no debating that Moviesnob Oct 08, 23:01

Great question, and i think you know the answer. Every one of them, In the theater. And for each of those... goodvibe61 Oct 09, 10:47
