Great question, and i think you know the answer. Every one of them, In the theater. And for each of those...

the first opportunity i had to see them? In a theater.

Snow White: Disney Re-release. Way back in the days before home video or these movies being regularly on TV.
Same with Third Man and Seven Samourai (college). These movies were NEVER shown on TV.

Casablanca? UC Irvine screening.

No brainer. Although, I get it, people under the age of 45, probably on TV, most people wouldn't seek these movies out. I get that.

The greatest of all those first screenings? Snow White. it's stayed with me for nearly 50 years.

Where did you see these movies for the time, out of curiosity?

Hmm. So: this TV movie Knives Out Take the Money and Run will play for a week in some AMC's. Not much of a TV movie guy. goodvibe61 Oct 08, 12:57

You mad bro? Movie Cub Oct 08, 13:36

Out of curiosity, where did you first see Seven Samurai, Third Man, Casablanca, and Snow White? In a theater or at home? {nm} RupertPupkin Oct 08, 14:28

How old do you think he is? :) {nm} TheWeekendWarrior Oct 08, 14:42

That's partly my point, though. A lot of people experience "classic" movies for the first time at home. {nm} RupertPupkin Oct 08, 14:49

Plus he's a lot of fun at parties {nm} Moviesnob Oct 08, 15:32

This is turning into one of the strangest threads in Movies board history... {nm} TheWeekendWarrior Oct 08, 16:17

DUNE was a TV movie. I wish I could've seen it in a theater. {nm} Rishoutfield Oct 08, 17:56

Neither DUNE or GLASS ONION are TV movies and even if they were, thats fine too there are TONS of great TV movies Moviesnob Oct 08, 19:16

Name 20 :) {nm} The Weekend Warrior Oct 08, 20:42

Is that Duel? With Dennis Weaver? Great movie? I saw that on TV...probably turned me in to the John Simon of film critics being subjected to Catzan Oct 08, 22:47

oops yeah. have Riley's movie on the brain since I work for its production company {nm} Moviesnob Oct 08, 23:03

The history of this board goes back 25+ years. This isn't even close to strange. {nm} JHFHockey Oct 08, 19:31

You're right; I am. {nm} goodvibe61 Oct 09, 10:51

I have been lucky enough to see a lot of classic films in a theater since I studied film history in school. Thank goodness for letterbox Catzan Oct 08, 22:42

Films need to be exploited in three windows in maximize their value. There's no debating that Moviesnob Oct 08, 23:01

Just about every great film since I could drive, living in SoCal? In a Theater. It's L.A. man, there were LOTS of theaters... goodvibe61 Oct 09, 11:58
