Yeah, definitely just a polarizer thing with that specific complaint I suspect there's still some Sonys in like the Inland Empire.
That 2009 Sony Unit "2x a year" major repair (it used to be deemed a "warranty issue") they mention, definitely happens, but at least a few years ago wasn't happening 2x a year out of 20+ projectors running almost constantly for a few years. I would say maybe 1/6th of them ran into the issue and it would be maybe once a year. Definitely a few thousand dollar fix.
