I seem to remember there was some claimed family infighting to boot in the years leading up to shutdown which never helps.
I think they auctioned off most, if not all the projection equipment (which at this point would probably need to be replaced anyway even if it wasn't) so it would still take several months even if they said screw it and abandoned the remodel plans to get new equipment installed and new staff hired.
