Kill Bill Volume 2 vs 1 is the only example I can think of where well under one year release gap (nonMCU) had the following film open higher
Cannibalized Matrix, Back to The Future, The Star Wars Special Editions, Pirates 3 (though that was close to a year).
Star Wars Special Editions definitely should have been one year apart but that was a George Lucas thing to release them as close to each other as they did.
