And on top of everything else, this just adds even more fuel to the fire that NetTrix simply has zero clue about films.
They had these movies far earlier this year, it's not like they weren't familiar with these movies they actually were in control of:
Train Dreams
Jay Kelly
House of Dynamite
Go back 3 months and ask yourself, what was the priority for these Oscar push for these movies?
Train Dreams was number 3 for them. Clearly. Back around the early fall festival time frame, we were hearing all about Dynamite and Kelly, there was an enormous push for each of these.
These people don't know what they even have.
I mean, at the end of the day, what does it matter? Their movies are all dumps. There's no word of mouth, public discourse for any of that stuff anyway. But at least from the perspective of trying to get your films in the Academy conversations, to not put your eggs in that basket?
Oh well.
I was looking for a good sized audience screening to see the film, and I had to settle for a small Landmark screening with nobody there. What a shame.
PS: I know; Billions of people have "watched" Train Dreams on their phones. I shouldn't feel any way about it, and it is what it is.
