Its likely IFC's goal is to boost their streaming platforms but the volume they are doing is too much and they have lost trust w/ exhibitors
as they are just getting split runs with the chains in higher revenue theaters. FACES OF DEATH was supposed to be their biggest release and they had to pull back due to lack of support. Its spilled over to other distributors as the chains balked at NOBODY which was Magnolia who did pretty well with THELMA but ended up with a lot of splits on it and they were spending more than IFC. THELMA only dropped 40% in the 2nd weekend but NOBODY will be a lot more and already is taking preorders on digital
