Movies

I took my wife to see it this afternoon at the Draft House. She enjoyed it; i thought it was a little better the second time around.

There were still plenty of people in the theater there to see it. It feels like it has several more weeks of play in it. It's certainly a far, far better film than the Backrooms movie. 


The movie is an important piece of work for the younger movie goers, who feel like this is something they can call their own, and that's cool. The story doesn't really work in very fundamental ways, but that's okay; when you're talking about horror and fantast that's frequently the case. 

My wife was laughing immediately after the ending, starting up with the "I'd like to see another 15 minutes of what happened after the wish ended, and what happened then", or "gee, if this is what happens with these wish novelties, it's pretty amazing that nothing like this has ever happened before", and so on, five different things that you just forgive from a screenplay for a movie that you generally enjoy. But overall, it's fun, the girl going over the top and chewing the scenery every which way the script allows her to. 

An enormous movie for theatrical this year, in many different ways.
