I know Jen Lawrence is getting all the kudos for Winter's Bone, but you know who's really great in it also? John Hawkes. Very VERY good.
The movie overall is fine. Similar in tone and feel to Frozen River. It's a bit of a slog to get through, these really are people whose lives nobody really wants to look at much if you have a choice.
The the two lead performances are very good and it's about time for Hawkes, who has been around and is always strong, to get some real recognition. He really brings it in this film.
