their (CLE) issue now though is, they have to also get a quality RB? I do not see how giving up TRich for a 20+ draft pick is going to

help land them a talent of Richardson's caliber (potential).  My opinion is they got rid of him to tank the season and they'll fight with JAX for the first pick (then go for Manziel).  Also the fact they do not think (internally) he is the right fit for what they are wanting to do there.  It still doesn't make sense to me since they are going to have a pick for a QB anyway, because their record w/ TRich is still going to be low.  Maybe just not low enough for an elite QB.

Time will tell on this one.  In my opinion CLE took a step backwards.  Since 1999 they have had two winning seasons 10-6 and 9-7.  They have made the playoffs twice since 1989 and only won one of those games.  My laughing at them initially is because of their continued ability to deliver promises to their fans that a winning season is coming, yet they continually lose and never stick with a consistent squad.  They havent stuck with a QB for longer than 15 games that I can remember.  Now they are throwing in the towel and losing a great talent for not much in the return, in hopes of again "rebuilding", when that is all they have been trying to do for the last 20 years.  From outside of CLE, knowing all that and seeing this move is indeed laughable.

Sure I can agree on pundits, and again I'm no expert.  Maybe they know something we don't.  Maybe they will make a fool out of the critics (myself), but my bet is no.  Cincinnati is making things happen and their rebuilding is going successful, BALT and PITT are a few steps ahead as well (but not truly dominant teams right now).  CLE is banking a lot on future draft picks, that may or may not pan out when they had a RB that IMO and many experts would flourish if you give him what is needed.  The Colts will be able to give TRich a system that he can produce in and we'll see if he pans out.  At worst we gave up a late first round draft pick, but we've always been great at our drafting ability (heavily skewed offensive) so I'm not concerned even if he does bust (which barring injury I think is unlikely).

OMFG... we got Trent Richardson for a first round pick. LMFAO.....WOW!!!! {nm} lobogotti Sep 18, 15:48

Roll Colts Roll!!! {nm} Bubba_Fett Sep 18, 16:07

absolutely!! someone over in CLE got too deep in the crack rock today and made a HUGE mistake" {nm} lobogotti Sep 18, 16:19

This is a good move for the Colts and Trent, whiskey tango foxtrot was Cleveland thinking? {nm} Bubba_Fett Sep 18, 16:34

Been watching their press conference and they keep talking about rebuilding... HA! just insane {nm} lobogotti Sep 18, 17:18

I don't get it, Cleveland essential traded a #1 RB for a late first rounder... {nm} lapuckfan Sep 18, 16:52

exactly!! dumb, dumb, dumb. And we have the 1st & 3rd picks of the 2012 draft! {nm} lobogotti Sep 18, 17:19

Reddit's Colt page shows Trent in Colt blue. Bubba_Fett Sep 18, 17:00

can you imagine the phone call yesterday to Irsay from the Browns? how did he keep from laughing and saying... lobogotti Sep 18, 17:24

Hehe, I bet he offered a 2nd rounder... {nm} slappydavid Sep 18, 18:57

a young loaded offense that can be dominant for years. wtg colts {nm} islander Sep 18, 17:38

we're back on our way. I should say though I will still be surprised if we win more than 10 games this year. lobogotti Sep 19, 08:04

This isn't fantasy football. Richardson has upside, but there's maybe one other team (gb) that would have traded a first for any rb Moviesnob Sep 18, 23:35

My shock is that CLE would get rid of him. He had 1400 combined yards last year and 11 TDs. If you're going to rebuild TRich is the man lobogotti Sep 19, 08:02

the team that is built around the best RB in the league has no chance at winning a super bowl. its a QB league Moviesnob Sep 19, 08:34

There is no denying that it's a QB league and that's exactly how the NFL want to keep it. lobogotti Sep 19, 09:32

i think you misread my stance. theres no doubt that richardson has upside and hes a perfect fit for the colts. but theres no denying they Moviesnob Sep 19, 09:56

I would check your schedule before locking in that high first rounder. I personally think the value of that pick is more like 1.12 to 1.18, Moviesnob Sep 19, 13:06

HA! I said it above in a post to islander. I'll be surpised if we win more than 10 games, and we're certainly going to have to beat HOU lobogotti Sep 19, 13:39

My take: Browns need a dynasty QB. They want a top pick at the loaded QB class in the upcoming draft. PRodQuanta Sep 19, 11:22

Now if they don't get the #1 and they try and trade their picks for #1 that would be something, but lobogotti Sep 19, 11:41
