There's plenty wrong, but, do note that shortened hospital stays are driven, in part, by efforts to prevent MRSA staph
infection, and higher mortality rates. The longer anyone stays in a hospital, the greater their chances of contracting MRSA, which is becoming extremely difficult to get under control.
Here'a one article from Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine.
Risk of contracting MRSA "... was 7.5% per week in the first week and 20.3% per week thereafter."
Hospitals are BAD places to be laid up in bed.
