Has anyone watched The Good Lord Bird? I am mesmerized by the writings of James McBride.

I just recently finished reading Deacon King Kong. I found it to be an incredible novel. There are so many memorable characters and vignettes in this that strike among a wide array of emotions. I was wiped out by the end of the book, it left me with such an amazing feeling of wonder for just being able to wake up in the morning and be breathing another day. Incredible book. 

And it seems so ripe to be adapted; I'd read that he's turning it into another TV show, which is what happened with The Good Lord Bird, which is another incredible novel by the guy. But I haven't watched TGLB just yet, and i was wondering if anyone here has, and if so, what did you think? 

I find this guy McBride to be among my very favorite writers at this point. His voice; it's just speaking directly to me, soul to soul, it's incredible. He's incredible.
