Yes; I agree with Seppanwall's analysis as well. It's a couple of things:

1. The primary voters must be young girls. And so, they don't vote for the girls. They vote for their favorite guys. This destroys the show's integrity to a certain extent; it always has. But it does have a tendancy to make for good, dramatic television.

2. Looking back in hindsight I don't think the judges can feel bad about saving Casey.

Here's the thing: Casey is the most talented musician on the show. By a landslide. He makes more brilliant choices when he's performing than all the other contestants combined. The judges see that, and they felt horrible about him going as early as he was going to, so they simply had to use the save at that time.

But now, again looking back in hindsight, you can also see that Pia is a far more commercial, much more potentially successful "Idol" than Casey, who is more of an artist, who makes more daring, less commercial artistic choices than someone like Pia. So, Pia is a more potentially successful Idol than Casey, so looking at it from that perspective, it WAS unfortunate that they had to use the save so early for Casey, because that left them exposed to America's next dunderheaded move. So there was nothing they could do about it.

The judges need to be more critical. That's the key in my opinion. This is long overdue. Hopefully they'll learn from that now.
