In 1969, Easy Rider depicted a cross-country trip on motorcycles that centered on two, longhaired bikers (Peter Fonda as Captain America and Dennis Hopper as Billy)on their way to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. Jack Nicholson played the sidekick of the two hippies in this quintessential "road" film, which was directed by Hopper. The landmark film, that is Easy Rider, created a pioneering style of cinema that continues today in the independent film genre and is still regarded as a cultural symbol of freedom and expression in America. Production for a sequel is currently being finalized. Expected to begin shooting this fall, the sequel will use many of the same locations as in the original. Glen Tobais (The Gingerbread Man) will produce and Mikki Allen Willis (Shoe Shine Boys) will write and direct this highly anticipated film.
