The friendship between late Grateful Dead legend Jerry Garcia and blues mandolinist and recording artist David Grisman is the focus of a documentary called Grateful Dawg. The footage and story is actually the work of Grisman's daughter Gillian. Sony Pictures Classics acquired the 11th Hour Productions and Entertainment for a theatrical release. The documentary is hailed as providing a candid insight into Garcia and his fruitful musical friendship with Grisman.
