The documentary The Hip-Hop Project looks at the art form as a vehicle for self empowerment and discovery. The film follows an outreach program established by a former homeless man turned youth mentor named Kazi. He organized a group that developed a powerful album that documented their lives and experiences through hip-hop music. Bruce Willis executive produces the film and appears alongside Russell Simmons and Doug E. Fresh. Matt Ruskin directed the film.
