Description

Lauren Bacall first began acting off-Broadway after high school, and studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. Although she entered modeling once she was finished with school, her appearance on the cover of Harper's Bazaar earned her a screen test with legendary director Howard Hawks. Bacall made her film debut in 1944's To Have and Have Not, beginning a career that would include more than 40 films. Bacall's recent credit for 1996's The Mirror Has Two Faces earned her an Oscar nomination, as well as a Golden Globe.
