Description

Screenwriter Peter Berry adapts Vladimir Nabokov's third novel The Defense, a study of madness and obsession about a child named Luzhin. A chess prodigy, Luzhin withdraws into the game and eventually rises to the rank of grandmaster, only to come undone in a championship match when his vaunted defense proves to be vulnerable. Christopher Walken, John Turturro and Emily Watson will star in the film to be directed by Marleen Gorris.
