Based on a true story, Philomena follows an Irish woman who is sent to the convent of Roscrea in 1952 after getting pregnant. The nuns then sent the child to America for adoption and the mother spent the next 50 years searching for him. Judi Dench and Steeve Coogan star in the film directed by Stephen Frears. Coogan and Jeff Pope adapted the script from the book 'The Lost Child of Philomena Lee' by journalist Martin Sixsmith.
