The Farrelly Brothers (There's Something About Mary) have created another madcap comedy pushing the boundaries of taste. Shallow Hal is about a 12-year-old boy whose dying father advises him to only date young, pretty girls. 28 years later, the man, played by Jack Black, still follows his father's edict until he's struck by a curse that allows him to only see a person's inner beauty. He falls in love with a fat, unattractive woman whom he sees as the beautifully thin Gwyneth Paltrow. Susan Ward and Jason Alexander co-star.
