Following the success of Nickelodeon's first cable-to-film franchise, The Rugrats, the animated series The Wild Thornberrys on Nickelodeon will also be coming to the big screen. The Wild Thornberrys follows a 12-year-old world traveler named Eliza Thornberry, who has the amazing ability to communicate with animals in their own language. The Thornberrys travel around the world in the "Commvee" to make nature documentaries. The Commvee is a durable vehicle that can be converted into a submarine.
The show's cast lends their voices for the feature film. Time Curry is the voice of Nigel. Lacey Chabert (Party of Five) is the voice of Eliza, while Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist, Flea, provides the voice of Eliza's younger brother, Donnie.
Jeff McGarth, the show's producer, and Cathy Malkasian, the show's director, make their directorial feature film debut on The Wild Thornberrys. The story is by Kate Boutilier who also wrote Rugrats in Paris: The Movie.
