Walking Across Egypt is a warm and endearing story set in the South about an elderly woman named Mattie (Ellen Burstyn), who sees the good in a 16-year old delinquent named Wesley (Jonathan Taylor Thomas). Based on the novel by Clyde Edgerton, the picture is a timeless tale of how two lives arechanged forever due in part to a small amount of grace, understanding,and good old home cooking. Though Mattie and Wesley are from oppositeends of the cultural and generational spectrum, it's clear that their univeral"need to be needed" knows no barriers. As the film builds to its dramaticend, they must decide for themselves what is right and wrong, regardlessof what society may think, do or say!
