The Oscar nominations for the 94th Academy Awards have finally been announced. Netflix’s The Power of the Dog led the pack with 12 nominations, followed by Warner Bros.’ Dune with 10. HSX offers AwardOptions for the nominees in the top eight categories. Can you predict the Oscar winners?
Best Picture category is now set at 10 nominations: Belfast, CODA, Don’t Look Up, Drive My Car, Dune, King Richard, Licorice Pizza, Nightmare Alley, The Power of the Dog, West Side Story
Best Director: Jane Campion is the first woman to be nominated for a second time in this category. Kenneth Branagh, Paul Thomas Anderson and Steven Spielberg are also repeat contenders while Ryusuke Hamaguchi is the only newcomer.
Best Actor: Andrew Garfield, Benedict Cumberbatch, Denzel Washington, Javier Bardem and Will Smith are a formidable fivesome.
Best Actress: First-time nominee Kristen Stewart joins Jessica Chastain, Nicole Kidman, Olivia Colman and Penelope Cruz.
Best Supporting Actor: Oscar-winner J.K. Simmons battles four first-time nominees in Ciaran Hinds, Jesse Plemons, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Troy Kotsur.
Best Supporting Actress: Oscar-winner Judi Dench also faces four first-time nominees in Ariana DeBose, Aunjanue Ellis, Jessie Buckley and Kirsten Dunst.
